Today, Mom and I went shopping at Publix. We purchased:
(2) 36-ct. Hefty odorless heavy-duty 13 gal. garbage bags; (1) reusable Publix bag; (2) 6 oz. boxes Hamburger Helper; (2) 64 oz. jars of Mt Olive Whole Kosher Dill Pickles; (2) 16 oz. packages of Oscar Mayer Beef Franks; (1) small jar of Tostito Salsa; (2) Family-Size bags of Tostito’s Tortilla Scoop! Chips; (2) 16 oz. boxes of Barilla Pasta; (2) 6 oz. boxes of Hamburger Helper; (2) 5.5 oz. bags of mixed greens; (1) 2.71 lbs. bananas; (2) containers of Betty Crocker frosting; (2) boxes of Betty Crocker cake mix; (2) 4 oz. packages of ATHENOS feta cheese; (1) qt. of LACTAIDE milk; and (not shown in picture) (2) 32 oz. trigger-spray bottles of Lysol Disinfectant 4-in-1 Cleaner.
Out of those things, we would normally buy:
(2) 36-ct. Hefty odorless heavy-duty 13 gal. garbage bags; (1) reusable Publix bag; (1) small jar of Tostito Salsa; (2) Family-Size bags of Tostito’s Tortilla Scoop! Chips; (2) 5.5 oz. bags of mixed greens; (1) 2.71 lbs. bananas; (2) 4 oz. packages of ATHENOS feta cheese; and (2) 32 oz. trigger-spray bottles of Lysol Disinfectant 4-in-1 Cleaner.
All the other purchases will be used for church suppers and parties or, if all else fails, donated to the Food Pantry at our church.
Savings:
$21.03 in vendor (manufacturer's) coupons
$6.00 in store coupons (including competitors') and
$37.40 in in-store savings (sales, BOGOs, etc.).
Total Savings: $64.43
Our receipt, which was ten miles long, totaled WITHOUT SAVINGS to $82.45 (w/out tax). We paid in cash a whopping $18.60.
WITHOUT SAVINGS, we would have spent $45 (w/out tax) on our commonly bought items alone, and $35 (w/out tax) on the other items.
With only the in-store savings, it would have been approximately $25 on our commonly bought items alone, and an additional $20 for the other items.
Consider the difference that coupons make!
Today was the last day of this particular run of BOGO sales. Check out tomorrow's new sales in Publix stores and see how much you can save!
